The Book Kitchen

OUR STORY

THE BOOK KITCHEN IS A PLACE, LIKE YOUR KITCHEN TABLE; THE HUB OF THE HOME; WHERE OUR COMMUNITY CAN MEET, EAT, DRINK, SOCIALISE, WORK,
DEBATE OR JUST POP IN & SAY HI!

Run by Amelia & David Birch since February 2010, it’s plain to see their values of passion, genuineness, consistency & familiarity reinforced in everything at The Book Kitchen. With over 30 years of hospitality experience between them they have an innate understanding of creating honest food, using beautiful ingredients and being consistent.

The Book Kitchen has evolved over the last 12 years, with its latest exciting reincarnation a new local hub of activity. Moving away from being a full time cafe, Amelia's idea for the change came after having the light rail project begin construction in early 2017, where they started to feel the negative effects straight away.

Our local community is extremely important to us, we knew we needed to innovate so that we’d still be here when the light rail construction came to an end. And so innovate we did!

The Book Kitchen Group is opening on Tuesday 28 March to serve the community in a more space-efficient, cost-effective way with the introduction of a co-working space for local small businesses, freelancers, startups and entrepreneurs, as well as allowing chefs to hire the fully fitted commercial kitchen.

They're also introducing 'Vini & Panini' to the mix! After a magical trip to Venice & Florence for Christmas last year where Dave was inspired by the delicious simplicity of lunch time paninis and a tipple of wine, they've been keen to recreate that vibe ever since. And so 'Vini & Panini' - yes, wine & paninis - will be served out the window onto the pavement daily, from Tuesday 28 March.

The much-loved grocery will continue as is, with many more products to come in the near future.

Looking forward to seeing you for a vini and panini soon!
